Disappearing Tiny Attachments (Jewelry, etc)

I used to get a lot of questions in a chat group about why small attachments would disappear from their avatars until selected (in edit mode) or reattached.

The reason for this is primarily due to the creators requesting users to turn up their LOD Factor to above normal. A good median number is 3.0 - you'll be able to see 99% of all meshes and sculpts at excellent quality for most distances, and your small jewelry and clothing pieces wont disappear into nothingness.

2.5-3.5 seems optimal for me, 2.5 you run into /some/ LoD issues even with well tuned items, and 3.5 you begin losing smaller attachments at normal 3rd person view range.
